Efficiency with Postpullers
Postpullers (UK) says its Fence Master is proving popular with fencing contractors and landscapers for post removal. It is designed
to deal with all types of posts, from fence posts to bollards, complete with concrete foundations
in under a minute.
It offers 4,000kg of pulling force and is capable of extracting footings of up to 600mm diameter, says the company, which will be exhibiting at Saltex.
After the post has been extracted, it can be wheeled away.
Husqvarna powers up
Husqvarna’s latest battery-powered hand-held cordless garden tools can help users reduce fumes and noise.
The products are lightweight and designed for comfort and ease of use on long shifts, as well as to provide low running costs and long battery running time for high productivity.
Having an electric motor rather than a petrol engine,
the tools can reduce maintenance and decrease HAV, says Husqvarna, which will be exhibiting at the Saltex exhibition at the NEC on 31 October and 1 November.
GreenMech on track
GreenMech has introduced a new version of its 19-28 wood chipper with an enhanced SURE-Track system. The machine is designed for operators traversing embankments or working on uneven ground,
or where levels differ significantly between the two tracks. Independent pivoting assemblies allow each track to maintain contact with the ground while following the contours for stability.
The patent-pending system, pictured during testing, now enables traversing of steeper slopes greater than 35°, and keeping the body
of the machine level also protects the engine by maintaining it within
its approved manufacturer tilt levels, says GreenMech.
Makita extends 36V range
Makita has developed a 36V cordless multi-tool system for landscapers together with a range of quick-fit attachments, including a newly introduced brush cutter and line trimmer, in addition to the existing cultivator, pole saw, hedge trimmer and lawn edger.
The DUX60Z LXT split-shaft motor unit has an effective output of 600W and a three-speed drive system. It incorporates Makita’s Active Feedback Sensing Technology to shut down the tool if the rotation speed suddenly reduces,
or if the blade or line head snags.
Also available is the DCU180Z 18V wheelbarrow which can carry 130kg of blocks on its tubular frame, or a similar amount of turf in a barrow-bin option.
Its brushless motor is integrated into the front wheel for maximum traction.
Makita will highlight its latest models on its stand at Saltex.
New Avant models head for the UK
Avant Tecno (UK says that, following the launch of its E6 electric compact loader at the 2018 Executive Hire Show, the unit is now in full production, with the first deliveries expected in the UK this month.
The compact loader uses Lithium-ion battery technology and comes with an on-board charging unit as standard. This enables charging from any 230V/10A power outlet. Optional rapid charging stations are also available.
The unit has two electric motors, namely one of 6kW for driving the machine and a 2kW motor for loader boom operation and auxiliary hydraulics. Hydraulic flow is 30 litres per minute,
which allows working with various attachments. The manufacturer, which will be exhibiting at Saltex, says that in light use, Lithium-ion battery performance is roughly 30% better than
lead-acid equivalents, while in heavy usage it can be up to three times longer.
Altrad Belle’s success on a plate
For work associated with hard landscaping projects, Altrad Belle says its PCLX12/40E electric plate compactor enables hirers and end users to reduce their carbon footprint with zero exhaust emissions, low noise
and reduced HAV.
The 50kg machine has a 12kN vibrator for fast results and is
available in either 240V or 110V. Full guidance on safe use is
readily available by scanning the QR code on the product,
a feature which is now included on every Altrad Belle model.

Latest Stihl additions
Stihl has added the FSA 130 and 130 R lightweight brush cutters to its PRO range. The former is designed for clearing large areas of grass quickly and has a bike-style handle, whilst the FSA 130 R has a loop handle to facilitate work in tighter spaces. Both have three adjustable settings to conserve power.
Each tool can be driven by Stihl’s range of 36V battery systems and can be used with its AP batteries or AR backpack batteries, with running times of up to 410 minutes with the AR 3000 backpack battery when used with the FSA 130.
Stihl, which will be exhibiting at Saltex, also offers the HSA 94 R and HSA 94 T professional cordless hedge trimmers. The R version has a lower blade speed for cutting thicker growth and managing tougher hedges, while the T variant has a higher blade speed for ornamental work. The double-sided blade also allows users to cut both vertically and horizontally.
Demon’s powerful Hurricane
Demon International’s will promote its range of pressure washers
at Saltex, including the Hurricane Combi Flat Surface cleaner. Combining a rotary floor cleaner with a pressure washer, it allows the user to wash flat surfaces and then quickly convert to pressure washer operation with the addition of a lance.
Also on display will be Demon’s our latest hose reel model holding up to 100m of high-pressure hose on an easy-to wind-chassis,
along with models from the manufacturer’s range of LPG-powered pressure washers.
Tufftruk’s green machine
Tufftruk says that the battery-powered ‘eco’ version of its Truxta mini dumper is appealing to landscaping professionals working at sites where emissions and noise have to be minimised.
The 300kg and 450kg-capacity models are 76.6cm and 91.4cm wide respectively, and a failsafe dead-man brake system with hydrostatic controls enhances safety, particularly on slopes. Power is delivered to all four wheels to facilitate operation on uneven ground. The skip can be replaced with a flat-bed for carrying materials.
HSC in demand
Hire Supply Co (HSC) reports strong sales this summer of its heavy-duty landscaping equipment which was able tackle the
hard ground resulting from the hot weather. Machines include its hydraulic Barreto rotavators and trenchers which are designed to work in demanding conditions year-round.
The Barreto Hydraulic Root and Stump grinder and the Dosko Root & Stump grinder have also sold well, so much so that HSC needed to bring over additional containers from the manufacturers.
The company also reports that the German range of Weber MT compaction equipment, which it distributes, is gathering momentum, and states that customers appreciate
the ‘reassuringly expensive’ quality of the products.
HSC holds stocks of the most common compaction plates and a range of trench rammers. Currently the smallest plate in the range is a 16in machine, but the company is working closely with Weber to develop a smaller model which
is expected to be available in
the New Year.

Paving precision from Probst
New from Probst Handling Equipment is the Safeflex SF clamping device for securing paving stones and natural stone slabs prior to cutting. It facilitates work with an angle grinder or disc cutter and helps give precise results, says the company.
The user presses his foot on the upper clamping element and when he releases it from the non-slip tread surface, the springs separate the components to allow the material to be removed.
Bobcat adds third forestry cutter
Bobcat has extended is range of forestry cutter attachments with a third model, the FRC150ST, for use on the smaller Bobcat S630/H and S650/H skid steer loaders and T590/H and T650/H compact tracked loaders.
The 1.5m-wide unit is manufactured almost entirely from Hardox steel, with a specially designed fixed motor for greater output and efficiency. It also has a lighter drum with carbide teeth, new hose routing and offers improved manoeuvrability. It is designed
for continuous work on bushes and trees 100mm to 120mm in diameter, intermittent use for trees of 150mm to 200mm, and occasional use on trees from 220mm to 260mm in diameter.
Digbits in development
Digbits reports that it is developing a new tree shear attachment for excavators in the
4 to 8-tonne operating weight class. The unit will have full Hardox 450 jaw and chassis construction, 360° continuous jaw rotation and an enclosed hydraulic ram, with the ability to cut softwood of up to 300mm in diameter.
Rotation means the unit, which is scheduled for launch in spring 2019, can be used
on both trunks and branches at all angles, and enables the operator to select the direction of fall of small trees to the left or right. Replaceable serrations enable it to grip and lift material before or after cropping.
Hook-Up lightens the load
The Hooka from Hook-Up Solutions is designed to combine the functionality of a small forklift, tracked dumper and spider crane for the safe lifting and moving of heavy landscaping materials. Measuring 1m wide, it has been ‘width matched’ to pallets and bulk bags, enabling it to reach the areas that bigger machines cannot, says the company.
A patented Load-lock system has been developed to eliminate instability by effectively turning suspended payloads into safety ballast for the machine. This is designed to allow the unit to be compact and lightweight with on-the-spot manoeuvrability, and to handle loads of up to 1.5 tonnes.
